Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, structural disposition, manufacture and application of robots and computer systems for their control, sensory feedback, and information processing.
Automation, is beyond simply mechanisation and is the use of control systems and information technologies to reduce the need for human work in the production of goods and services.
Therefore robotics and associated automated technologies deal with automated machines that can take the place of manual operators in dangerous, repetitive, highly complex or precision environments or manufacturing processes, whilst involving a degree of cognition, behaviour and control.
Robotics and automation is a rapidly growing field, as technological advances continue; researching, designing, and building new robots and automated systems to serve various practical purposes, whether domestically, industrially, commercially, or militarily.
